Brief Description:

 

The game is very simple and extremely fun! You simply aim and throw your marble into the pit on the ground. If you score, you win the bet.

Prerequisites:

 

  • Place: Park
  • What you will need:
    • Small shovel
    • Marbles (of course)
  • Number of players: 2 (min)
  • Age restriction: 3+ years old

Preparation:

 

1. Dig a small hole in the ground with your shovel, approx. 20cm in diameter, shaped like a hemisphere, and depth of approx. 10cm.

2. Draw a line 6 feet away from the pit. The length of the line can be as long as you want. We recommend 3 to 4 meters long.

Now, let’s play the game!

Rules and How to Play

STEP 1

Decide the bet (for example each player puts into the pit 3 marbles). It is important to mention that some marbles have greater value due to the rarity of the marble!

STEP 2

Each player must stand over the hole (in between their legs) and throw his/her marble to cross the 6 feet line.

 

The first player who says “tengas” is the last player throwing his marble behind the line. Before him/her is “protengas” and “antitengas”. The other players must decide who plays first, second etc.

 

If a player fails to pass the line 3 times, is getting out and loses his bet.

STEP 3

The player who threw his/her marble furthest to the line plays first.

STEP 4

Standing over the marble (in between legs), the player must throw, and try to put the marble into the pit.

If the marble enters and stays in the pit, then the player wins the bet and the game starts again (Step 1).

STEP 5 (Optional)

Failed attempts to score:

  • If no one scored, the players must let their marbles to the ground and the next player who is behind the line but closer to the pit is his/her turn to try to score.
  • If a player hits the marble of another player, you don’t do anything. It’s part of the game!
  • If it’s not clear who is closer to the line you just measure the distance with your feet starting from the pit.
  • If none of the players scored, the player whose marble is closer to the pit has a second chance to play.
